This site is all about making money online.

I’m going to adopt a blog approach to this web site, and you will see it grow week by week, sometimes day by day, as I try to follow a course I’m subscribed to.

This course is based on video training and I’m sent a video to watch every few days. I’m expected to take notes and carry out the instructions I receive on the video.

Perhaps the best approach to take is to let you know what each video is about and what it is I’m expected to do before the next video arrives. Some actions will require me to spend some money, but most of the time things I need will be free.

Here we go then.

Video One Arrived 11th November 2007

Getting set up. This is what is on the first video.

1. Register a domain

Go to www.namecheap.com on the home page try to register yourname.com I registered mine www.donalddriscoll.com Cost $9.29

2. Get Roboform Pro Use this to remember all your user names and passwords.

Cost $29.95

3. Get Hosting Use Kiosk.ws or Hostgator.com I used Kiosk [Cost $18.95 a month] a few years ago but couldn’t get on with it. I prefer Hostgator - It’s cheaper [Cost $7.95 a month]and you can have unlimited domains with it. Point your DNS to hostgator or kiosk. You’ll get the information you need to do this when you sign up for an account. Another one I use is Midphase - very similar to Hostgator, same price and a free life time domain name, like Hostgator.

4. Get Winzip Download free trial version or buy the standard version from

www.winzip.com Standard version costs $29.95

5. Get Smart FTP to transfer files to your web server. Free to use. Install to Desktop after download.

6. Get Komposer.net a free web editor. I use My Free Web Site Builder It’s your choice.
